Shaqiri To Start, Jones To Drop Out: Liverpool’s Predicted XI For The Merseyside Derby

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would have been pleased to see his team bounce back with a win against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Getting a positive result before the Merseyside derby was vital, especially with Everton coming unstuck at home versus Manchester City on Wednesday.

Klopp is unlikely to make many changes to the team that played Leipzig, with Alisson in goal, and a back four comprising of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ozan Kabak, Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson.

There could be a change in midfield, though. The Toffees are likely to sit back and play on the counter-attack so having someone like Xherdan Shaqiri in midfield, to open up the defence, could be needed. It would be harsh but Curtis Jones may have to settle for a place on the bench, with Georginio Wijnaldum and Thiago Alcantara keeping their places.

After looking back to their best versus Leipzig, the usual front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah are expected to start at Anfield this weekend.

Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Play Everton:

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Kabak, Henderson, Robertson, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri, Thiago, Salah, Firmino, Mane
