BBC pundit Alan Shearer has named Liverpool trio James Milner, Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota in his Team of the Week for Premier League matchday 9.

Four Tottenham players, Chelsea pair Tammy Abraham and N’Golo Kante, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy were also included in the former England striker’s best eleven:

The three Reds players were certainly the standout performers as the Premier League champions secured a comfortable 3-0 win against Leicester City on Sunday.

Shearer praised Milner for being “brilliant” in two positions, at right-back and central midfield, while he lauded Robertson for a “sparkling performance” which saw him get the assist for the second goal.

However, he gave a special mention to Jota, who he said was “quite magnificent” in the win at the weekend. The pundit also believes the Portuguese international has been a “brilliant signing” for Liverpool since his arrival from Wolves for £41m in the summer.
