‘Something Has To Be Done’ ‘At Least We’ve Finished 1st In Something’ Fans Compare Liverpool’s Injury Record To PL Rivals

Jurgen Klopp has led Liverpool to a middling campaign this season.

Liverpool’s players have missed a combined 162 matches this season through injury.

The closest team, Chelsea (124), are quite a way behind the Reds, and it has led to supporters on Twitter discussing what is going on in the club’s medical department:

It has to be said that this isn’t a new problem for Jurgen Klopp’s side. While the 2021/22 campaign was pretty injury free, that was the exception.

In every other season since Klopp’s arrival, the fitness of the first-team squad has been a major concern, and you do have to question not only the medical team but the sports scientists and the fitness coaches being employed.

While you could argue that Liverpool have had a tendency to sign injury prone stars, many of these players (such as Naby Keita) didn’t really have many fitness issues before arriving at Anfield. If the Reds are to compete for honours every season, this is something that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.
