Souness Predicts When He Thinks The Premier League Title Race Will Be Decided

Graeme Souness

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes Manchester City’s next two games against Manchester United and Burnley will decide the destination of the Premier League title.

The Reds triumphed in a hard-fought win against Cardiff City yesterday to put them two points clear at the top of the table, while City have their game in hand against United on Wednesday night.

Souness thinks the trip to Old Trafford or the game at Turfmoor next Sunday will be the only games where City could drop points:

“I look at it now, Liverpool will beat Huddersfield on Friday, Man City know that Liverpool will win that game.”

“I think the title will be decided, whether City win it or not, in the next two games. I think if City win their next two then I don’t think they’re going to drop points in their last two (against Leicester and Brighton).”

It has been the highest quality title race in living memory. Liverpool could finish second on 97 points even if they win their three remaining matches.

With Manchester United having lost 4-0 against Everton, expecting a favour from their fierce rivals may be a bit too much to ask but Jurgen Klopp and his side will be hoping that the Red Devils are keen to react after an embarrassing defeat.
