Southampton vs Liverpool – Match Preview, Predicted XI, Match Odds

Liverpool will be hoping to make it two wins out of two in the Premier League this season as they take on Southampton on Saturday.

The Reds travel to the south coast off the back of European glory against Chelsea in midweek, winning the thrilling game on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will no doubt be exhausted following the 120 minute game and travel home from Istanbul. Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl even admitted this week that he was pleased he would come up against a tired Liverpool side, despite expecting to face the ‘best possible’ Reds side.

Southampton will be hoping to put their opening day woes behind them by putting in a solid performance against Liverpool, and with no new injuries to report, they have the best possible chance.

With Alisson injured, backup goalkeeper Adrian is also a doubt for the game, after being bizarrely injured by a pitch-invading fan after the Super Cup victory. Nathaniel Clyne is also out with an ACL injury, while Naby Keita remains unavailable following a muscle strain. Sadio Mane will be expected to start against his former club, after scoring both goals against Chelsea. Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino, and Georginio Wijnaldum are likely to return to the starting XI.
