Liverpool face a trip down south this weekend as they play against Russell Martin’s Southampton on Sunday.
Arne Slot’s side will make the trip coming off the international break on top of the Premier League table after 11 games with their opponents sat at the opposite end of the table.
The Reds come off a 2-0 win against Aston Villa with a 4-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League previous to that when winger Luis Diaz scored a hat-trick.
They face a Southampton side who have only won one game so far this season and sit on just four points from 11 matches.
Their win was a 1-0 victory against fellow strugglers Everton at the start of November and they’ll be hoping to cause a shock on Sunday.
Liverpool will be without star defender Trent Alexander-Arnold who has been ruled out with an injury that he picked up just before the international break. Click here to see our predicted XI for Arne Slot’s team.
Liverpool backed as heavy favourites against the Saints
It doesn’t come as much of a surprise that in the battle between first and last in the Premier League, Liverpool are expected to win.
According to Oddschecker, the Reds are 3/10 favourites to win on Sunday which gives them a 77% chance of three points.
Meanwhile, Southampton are given just a 9% chance to win at 10/1 and a draw is backed at 11/2 (15.4%).
We predict a 3-0 win for Liverpool who have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table over Manchester City who play Spurs and Arsenal who face Nottingham Forest.
