Sporting Director Admits Holding Talks With Agent Of Liverpool Target Ahead Of 37M Summer Switch

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has revealed that the Bundesliga club have held discussions with the agent of RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.

The Frenchman is also believed to be a target for Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United but Salihamidzic said that he had productive talks about a potential transfer:

“Of course we are thinking about him. We had a good meeting with his agents yesterday. Let’s see what happens.”

Upamecano is most likely to move at the end of the season when a €42m (£37m) release clause comes into effect, and the meeting appears to suggest Bayern are prepared to get a deal done ahead of the summer.

Whether Liverpool have also made an approach to the 22-year-old’s representatives, we shall have to wait and see. The Reds do have an excellent relationship with the Red Bull group, following previous deals for Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino.

However, the competition for Upamecano is expected to be fierce and the France international is likely to have a number of different options to choose from.
