Sporting Director Implores Serie A Star To Sign New Deal As Liverpool Join PL Rivals In Pursuing Potential Free Agent

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has called on Milan Skriniar to consider their new contract proposal.

The Slovakian international’s current deal expires at the end of the season and he could begin talks with other teams in the next two weeks. However, Ausilio says the Serie A club are keen to keep hold of the defender:

“We have hope for Skriniar’s renewal. We managers expect it for the fans and we hope that it’s also his thought, there must be two for a marriage. We want him to stay with us for a long time but he too has to put something in. Our proposal is important, we are trying to carry it forward.”

“He’s calm, motivated and focused on his work and I’m pleased with this and that’s what counts. We’re here and he has his agent for this situation and then we’ll see if it’s a matter that will be closed in the next few days or by the end of the year, we want to do things right.”

Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea are all said to be keeping an eye on Skriniar’s situation.

However, most reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain are favourites to secure the 27-year-old’s services, having also tried to sign the player back in the summer.

Skriniar is usually deployed on the right-hand side of a back three by Inter and, while he is a very good defender, you struggle to see where he would fit into Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven.

The Reds already have the likes of Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez to partner Virgil van Dijk in the centre of defence so, unless one of those players leaves Anfield, there isn’t really any room for Skriniar.
