Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling has criticised TalkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy for spouting “garbage” about Liverpool following their 4-1 defeat to Napoli last night.

The former Chelsea and Tottenham player has claimed that the Reds are “spiralling out of control” under the management of Jurgen Klopp, but Stelling has hit back on Twitter, stating the likes of Cundy have very short memories:

Yes they really really poor but spiralling out of control? They lost a game of football when they were rotten and the opposition was really good.

While Stelling does have a point about the 9-0 win over Bournemouth, there can be no doubt that Liverpool have struggled badly (for the most part) at the start of the season.

They have regularly conceded the first goal and, barring their thrashing of the Cherries, their attack has also looked rather toothless at times.

Even Klopp has admitted himself that he may need to “reinvent” his team to get the club’s campaign back on track. It remains to be seen whether they can recover quickly from the loss in Naples by securing a win against Wolves this weekend.
