Ex-Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has urged the Reds’ owners Fenway Sports Group to “make a statement” by sanctioning a “chunky bid” for Jude Bellingham before the transfer window closes next week.
Borussia Dortmund are believed to value the England international at €120m (£101m) but Collymore says the Reds should test the “resolve” of the Bundesliga club:
Go and get Bellingham now. Test Dortmund’s resolve with a chunky bid and get him in.
It’s not just City that Liverpool have to worry about. North London is more settled and Chelsea will keep spending.
Make a statement, open the FSG vault and get some youthful dynamism in there

Collymore clearly feels that Liverpool need to react in the transfer market after the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United but, it must be said, FSG are not ones to panic buy.
Bellingham is a long-term target for the Reds and, while there is a case to be made that an offer should be brought forward after the club’s disappointing start to the season, it’s unlikely to happen.
Collymore has raised the spectre of missing out on the top four, due to threats from both Arsenal and Chelsea, but you would think that Liverpool should have enough about them to recover their position in the table even without Bellingham.
