Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain remain in contention to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Despite Real Madrid being red hot favourites to land the Frenchman, with “direct” talks now being held between the La Liga club and Monaco, Romano claims Liverpool are still in the mix for the time being:
Key week ahead for Aurelién Tchouaméni deal. Real Madrid had new contacts with club and player side during the weekend, before and after the Champions League final. ⚪️⭐️ #transfers

It does appear as if Real will sign Tchouameni if they meet the player’s asking price. Monaco are reportedly holding out for around €80m (£68m) so it isn’t necessarily a foregone conclusion that the midfielder will end up at the Bernabeu this summer.
The Reds will still be holding out some hope that the 22-year-old will opt for a switch to England instead. However, other Premier League teams (including Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal) have seemingly dropped out of the running for Tchouameni and it may just be a matter of time before Liverpool do too.
