‘Still Trying To Sign Him…’ Report Makes Unlikely Claim About Liverpool’s Chances Of Hijacking 65M Deal

Liverpool remain interested in Leeds winger Raphinha, according to Sport. The Catalan publication claims that five of the “big six” (excluding Manchester City) are “still trying to sign him” despite his preference for Barcelona.

They cite the departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich as a reason why the Reds would be keen on securing the player’s signature:

This does sound like a bit of PR from Barcelona’s end of things. Sport generally relay info from sources inside the Catalan club and, if Barca do land Raphinha, it can be framed as them beating five top English clubs to the 25-year-old’s signature.

In reality, neither Liverpool nor Manchester United have made serious moves for the Brazilian international, and it is not believed that Tottenham have made a bid either.

Arsenal are interested and Chelsea have agreed a fee with Leeds in the region of £65m, and it is now up to Barca to match the Blues’ offer
