Former Liverpool star Luis Suarez says Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann are the type of players Barcelona want to sign.
Liverpool’s transfer saga with Barcelona over the sale of Coutinho rumbled on all summer long, as the Reds rejected three bids from the Catalan giants – including a £113m offer despite the midfielder handing in a transfer request.
Coutinho continues to play his heart out for Liverpool, but it is fair to say he almost certainly hopes to join Barcelona at some point in his career.
Suarez, who found himself in a very similar situation to Coutinho, transferred from Anfield to the Nou Camp in 2014, and says he would welcome both the Reds star and Griezmann to the club, with the latter also heavily rumoured to be a target.
“Both Griezmann and Coutinho are elite players that are playing at the top level,” Suarez told RAC105.
“They are where they are for a reason. They’re both young and have long careers ahead of them. And Barca always want the best players.”
It is unlikely that Coutinho will be allowed to leave in January, but Klopp should be making plans to replace him in the summer as it is inevitable that he will go.
