‘A Hell Of A Player’ Pundit Praises Liverpool Star Summer Signing

Former Chelsea and Celtic star Tony Cascarino named Liverpool midfield general Dominik Szoboszlai as his pick for the Premier League signing of the season in a recent interview.

The 61-year-old was full of praise for Szoboszlai, claiming that the Hungarian has ‘set a new standard’ at Anfield and called him a ‘hell of a player’. On top of this, he also lauded him for revolutionising Liverpool’s midfield.

Szoboszlai signed for Liverpool back in July for a reported fee of £60 million. Before this, he played for clubs such as RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and Liefering. Additionally, he has also made 37 appearances on the international stage for his native Hungary, scoring eight goals – he made his debut for his country in 2019, when he was just 19 years of age.

What did Tony Cascarino say regarding Dominik Szoboszlai?

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Cascarino said: “I’ll probably go for [Dominik] Szoboszlai at Liverpool. There’s a bit of bias in there, obviously. But I do think they’ve got way more than they thought they’ve got.

“I think they knew he was a really good attacking midfielder with bundles of pace. I think he’s really arrived at Liverpool and set a new standard. Remember, that whole midfield was dismantled. And Liverpool needed to rebuild. And I thought he’s come in and he’s looked from the very first game that he’s going to be a hell of a player for Liverpool over the next five or six years.”

How has Szoboszlai performed for Liverpool so far this season?

At the end of the 2022/23 season, Liverpool’s midfield was in disarray. Jurgen Klopp sought to remedy this issue – bringing Szoboszlai to the club may be one of the most important deals that the Reds have conducted in years.

He has started in all of Liverpool’s Premier League games so far this season, scoring a single goal and notching up two assists along the way. He is the creative force in the middle of the park that the Reds have been crying out for – not only does he work hard and press effectively, he is also superlatively talented with the ball at his feet.
