“Talks Ongoing” Sky Germany Reporter Confirms Liverpool Want Second Centre Back By 5PM Deadline

Liverpool are actively trying to sign Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak before the transfer window closes later today, according to Sky Germany reporter Max Bielefield.

The Reds would like to snap up the Turkish international on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. However, there are two complications that could scupper a deal going ahead. The German transfer deadline is 5 PM UK time and Schalke need to find a replacement:

The Premier League champions are already believed to be close to signing Ben Davies from Preston North End for £2m. The 25-year-old is currently undergoing a medical ahead of finalising his move.

There was also reportedly genuine interest in Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car but it is believed that a deal for the Croatian international would not have been agreed in time, leading them to make a move for Kabak instead.

The 20-year-old signed for Schalke from Stuttgart for €15m at the start of the 2019/20 season and he has made 36 appearances since moving to the Bundesliga club.
