Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on Jordan Henderson’s fitness following the win against Chelsea.
The Reds captain had to be substituted on 77 minutes yesterday after sustaining an ankle injury but Klopp doesn’t think it was anything serious:
“He got a knock on his ankle, that’s pretty much all. He was fine after the game. A bit of pain, no problem, [he] didn’t twist [it]. It’s only painful, not a problem.”
Fans on Twitter are relieved that Henderson’s fitness is not a concern:
Thank God

I hope nothing serious, just a slight ankle sprain to reduce swelling off with an ice pack, and raring to go next Wednesday night at Oporto, hopefully!
I wish you a quick recovery, Hendo!

Henderson once again played in a more advanced role in midfield, and his positional switch continues to pay dividends as he provided the assist for Sadio Mane‘s opening goal.
He was put through on the right-hand side by Mo Salah before chipping a delightful ball to the back post for the Senegalese forward to head in.
It remains to be seen if Henderson recovers from his minor knock in time for the trip to Porto on Wednesday. Considering many fans previously would have not missed the midfielder if he had been injured, it seems the 28-year-old is now an indispensable first team player once again following his recent displays.
