Liverpool are poised to announce the signing of Wolves forward Diogo Jota for a fee that could reach £45m. The Reds are expected to pay an initial £41m, with £4m in add-ons.
The club had also been looking at signing Watford’s Ismaila Sarr but the decision was made to snap up the Portuguese international instead, with some of the outlay being counterbalanced by Ki-Jana Hoever moving in the other direction for £13.5m.
Some fans on Twitter are surprised by the price that Liverpool have paid for Jota, considering the limited transfer budget, but others do see why the decision was made to fork out so much on the 23-year-old:
That’s a crazy price for Jota, but if Klopp says he wants him Then I 1000000% back him!!!!

Jota will provide the cover that Liverpool needs for Sadio Mane on the left flank. Manager Jurgen Klopp has had to make do with using Divock Origi over the past few years but he now has a perfect replacement if he needs to rest the Senegalese international.
