Ex-Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes that the Reds should consider signing BOTH Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice this summer.
The talkSPORT pundit says the likely departures of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner will leave a gaping hole in Liverpool’s midfield, and he thinks that Jurgen Klopp’s side should stump up the cash for the two England internationals to fill the void:
“I’d go for Bellingham and Rice. I’d try and get them both. Why not? Go hard or go home on two big signings, rather than four or five. Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham walking into that midfield with Thiago… that’s exciting.”
It seems very unlikely that the Reds will be able to afford both Bellingham and Rice, without there being a change of ownership. Bellingham could cost as much as €150m (£134m) and, with the Borussia Dortmund star attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City and even Newcastle, it will be a tricky deal for the Merseyside club to pull off.
A move for Rice would be slightly more straightforward. West Ham are expected to let their captain leave at the end of the season, with reports putting his price tag between £75m and £85m. Arsenal, Chelsea and United are, however, also keen on the 24-year-old.
