After another appalling performance against Fulham yesterday afternoon, Liverpool supporters have been searching for some positives following a record sixth straight home defeat.
Fabinho did not start the game and when he was introduced in the second half, he was restored to his place in midfield by manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Brazilian international has been mostly used as a centre-half this season due to injuries and fans on Twitter were glad to see him back further up the pitch:
The only positive today was really disappointed with Keita and Jota no spark no control

Agreed – clearly a huge difference.

Fabinho in 20minutes put his foot in and got the ball so we were picking it up much higher up

Spot on. He actually brought life to the team, for the minutes he played

Fabinho probably won more balls back then our midfield 3 combined these past games

Fabinho won more tackles in 15 mins than wijnaldum did in 15 games ??♂️

It remains to be seen whether Fabinho will be used as a midfielder from now on but, with so many defenders unavailable, you get the feeling he may have to slot back in at centre-back for the game against RB Leipzig during the week.
Ozan Kabak is now sidelined, along with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson. With Ben Davies still nowhere to be seen, Klopp’s only other choices for the crucial Champions League game would be Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams so there is every chance that Fabinho will find himself playing deeper once again.
