The Top Five Premier League Stars Who Should Be Asking For A Pay Rise

Anfield Stadium

Not every Premier League player is earning north of £100,000 a week, despite what many in the media would have you believe.

In fact, there are some star names who, it could be argued, are very much underpaid in comparison to their more well-rewarded teammates.

This list does include a number of young players, but even so, it is surprising to see that some of the top talents in this country are not paid as much as you would assume.

Press the next page as we look at five Premier League stars who deserve a pay rise (based on the information provided by Spotrac)

5) Andy Robertson – Liverpool – £50K A Week

Champions League winner, Premier League winner, World Club Championship winner and Scotland captain Andy Robertson is hardly on a salary at the Reds commensurate with his value to the squad.

Robertson signed this deal in January 2019, and it extends to 2024, with the Reds having an option for another year, so the left-back may not get a pay rise very soon.

4) Scott McTominay – Manchester United – £20K A Week

The 24-year-old has played 126 times for the Red Devils so it is hardly the case that the midfielder is an inexperienced youngster who needs to be patient for a big payday.

McTominay only signed this contract last summer so whether Spotrac have simply not updated his wage figures, it isn’t known. Even so, after scoring seven goals in 42 appearances this season, he may be deserving of another salary increase.

3) Phil Foden – Manchester City – £12K A Week

The playmaker has become a key first-team player this season, following David Silva’s departure last summer, and he has certainly made the requisite impact, scoring 13 goals and contributing nine assists in all competitions.

Foden is believed to be next in line for a new deal after Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling so expect a steep pay rise in the coming months.

2) Harvey Barnes – Leicester – £10K A Week

The England international has scored 13 times for the Foxes this season and he has developed a clinical edge in front of goal, which had been missing from his game in previous seasons.

Barnes should be asking for improved terms, considering he is on £100,000 a week less than James Maddison, who has had just four more goal involvements than him this campaign.

1) Bukayo Saka – Arsenal – £10K A Week

If this figure is correct then the Gunners are really getting their money’s worth out of the teenager. He has become their key player this season, despite his wage being dwarfed by the earnings of most of his teammates.

Saka only agreed a new contract with Arsenal last summer but, considering his superb performances, his agent should already be on the phone to the club about a significant increase in his weekly salary.
