“There Were Approaches” Ex Chelsea Star Reveals Liverpool DID Make Move For Brazilian International In The Summer

Liverpool did register their interest in Leeds winger Raphinha over the summer, according to his agent Deco.

The former Barcelona and Chelsea player now represents the Brazilian international, and when asked about rumours about a potential move to the Reds or Manchester United, he replied:

“There are certainly several clubs that like him, and Liverpool do like him, there were approaches, but nothing official. Leeds wanted to keep him for another season.”

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will firm up their interest in a future transfer window. Raphinha’s favoured position is the same as Mo Salah‘s and it would be a surprise if the Merseyside club paid a substantial fee for a player who would not be guaranteed a start in the first team.

The 24-year-old can play in other positions and has certainly impressed since he joined Leeds from Rennes for £17m but the Yorkshire club would likely demand a great deal more than what they paid for the player last October.

A move for Raphinha is certainly one to keep an eye on, though, with Deco also claiming that the Brazilian is waiting to make the “biggest leap in his career.”
