“There’s Growing Talk…” Romano Provides New Update As Liverpool Join PL Clubs Linked With 59M Transfer

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has played down speculation linking Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane with a move to Liverpool.

The Reds, along with Manchester United, have been mentioned as potential destinations for the former Manchester City star in recent days, but Romano doesn’t believe the player will leave the Allianz Arena this summer:

“I’m aware that there’s growing talk of Leroy Sane being targeted by the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, but I wouldn’t get too excited about it just yet. So far, Bayern have no intention of selling Leroy Sane. Robert Lewandowski has just left and more solutions will be needed throughout the season. It will be a tough deal for any club, and there are no offers on the Bayern table yet.”

“I believe that without Lewandowski in the team, Sane could have a bigger role and improve on what has been a slightly disappointing spell with the Bavarian giants so far. The likes of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry will also have more responsibilities and this can help them all.”

Both Chelsea and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in Sane in recent months. Since returning to Germany two years ago, he has failed to convince successive managers that he deserves to be a regular starter, prompting talk that he could be sold by Bayern.

Reports in the German media have claimed that the Bundesliga side could be willing to sell for around €70m (£59m), but Romano’s suggestion that Robert Lewandowski’s departure has led to a change of heart about Sane is likely to be accurate.

For most Liverpool fans, signing another forward isn’t a priority anyway, with many hoping that a new midfielder will be brought in before the transfer deadline instead.
