Liverpool and Manchester United are seriously considering a move for Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist believes the France international could well make the switch to the Premier League this summer:
“I’m told there is strong interest from the Premier League. Keep an eye on Liverpool. Keep an eye on Manchester United. There is a huge chance for him to sign in the Premier League this summer. They are really keen.”
Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid have also been mentioned as potential suitors in other reports so Liverpool will have to fight off a lot of competition to secure Tchouameni’s services.
It is said that Monaco will hold out for a fee between €60m (£50m) and €70m (£59m) for the 22-year-old so it will be interesting to see whether the Reds are willing to pay that much for the player.
Manager Jurgen Klopp already has plenty of midfielders at his disposal but, other than Fabinho, it could be argued that most of his options in the middle of the park are more attack-minded.
Having someone like Tchouameni to take the workload off Fabinho may well be the club’s motivation for going after the Frenchman.
