Thiago To Start, Fabinho On The Bench: Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Play Real Madrid

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does have a few selection dilemmas heading into the Champions League final against Real Madrid this evening.

Alisson will start in the goal, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are expected to line up as the two fullbacks. There is, however, a big call to make in the middle of defence.

Joel Matip’s experience may lead to him being given the nod ahead of Ibrahima Konate as Virgil van Dijk’s centre-back partner.

There are even bigger decisions to make in midfield. Both Fabinho and Thiago look to be winning their fitness battles to play in Paris, but it would be a risk to start both.

Fabinho may have been in full training for longer but he lacks rhythm, after playing his last game almost three weeks ago. Thiago, meanwhile, has only been out of action for a few days. Considering the attributes that the Spaniard possesses, he needs to start even if he is only 75% fit.

Captain Jordan Henderson could fill in for Fabinho in the number six role, while Naby Keita could make up the rest of the midfield three.

Up front, Sadio Mane is the player in form, so he is likely to start through the middle, with Luis Diaz and Mo Salah playing either side of him.

Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face Real Madrid:

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson, Keita, Henderson, Thiago, Salah, Mane, Diaz
