Liverpool are now expected to tie up a deal for Juventus midfielder Arthur ahead of the transfer deadline tonight.
The Brazilian will join the Reds on a season-long loan, with no option to buy, and it’s fair to say that fans on Twitter are very much split on whether he will be a good addition to the squad:
Thiago vibes

Seems definitely like a stop gap signing, whilst waiting for Jude.
Risky though, considering everyone will be after Jude next summer.

Looks like a good technician but how fast and Mobile is he around the pitch? That’s what we are missing atm

He looks very promising to be honest I think he will give us a lot

I’d be happier if we had Tielemans to back him up.

It’s not great, but if there is anything Klopp is good at, it’s getting the best out of a player. Between our coaching staff and our Brazilian contingent of players, he’ll have every chance to succeed.

Good thing it's only on loan as he's not had a good spell at Juve since moving from Barca

Arthur has struggled since moving to Juve two years ago, but that is more down to the fact that he doesn’t suit current manager Max Allegri’s style of play.
As some have mentioned, he is more in the Thiago mould, so don’t expect him to be rushing around to close down opponents, but he is a very good passer of the ball who could be rotated in and out of the starting eleven with the Spaniard.
Arthur has been linked with a Premier League move before, with Arsenal having looked at him in January, but it is concerning that so few other teams were considering him as a signing this summer. It is a risk but, with the player only joining on loan, he can be sent back to Italy if things don’t work out.
