Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas put in another impressive display in the Reds’ win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last night.
The Greek international has caught the eye when given the opportunity by manager Jurgen Klopp this season and fans on Twitter are debating whether he should be favoured ahead of current first-choice Andy Robertson:
This guy is so underrated what a signing by Jurgen Klopp. No1 knew about him; exactly like Robbo. Klopp continues to play 4D chess. ๐ฅบ๐ฅ๐๐พ

Iโd love too see him get a run in the team, no more Robbo playing them onside when rest of the defence is trying too play them off

Had a really good game last night, I think he can challenge Robertson for his spot and get the best out of both of them.

Yeh the lad is amazing. Great at crossing the ball into the danger areas. He is a real asset to have on the team. I think he’s slightly ahead of Robbo in the current form.

Giving Robbo a run for his money, a great player that Klopp trust

Robertson should be worried.

There is a strong case to be made for Tsimikas. He has been very good defensively but he poses a big threat in the opposition half as well, with some pinpoint deliveries both from open play and set pieces.
The 25-year-old put in a cross for Diogo Jota in the second half yesterday evening that the Portuguese international should have done a lot better with and he was a constant threat down the left flank.
Robertson, in contrast, has had a rather shaky start to the season, and while he is still putting in some decent performances, it is good to know that there is someone like Tsimikas putting pressure on him for his place in the team. We shall see who starts against West Ham on Sunday.
