Thomas Tuchel Delivers His Verdict On Liverpool After Chelsea’s Draw at Anfield

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel says his team faced a tough opponent in Liverpool as the two sides settled for a point at Anfield last night.

The Blues had to withstand an early barrage from the home side, before taking the lead, and Tuchel claims his team were going up against a very difficult opponent:

“I saw a very strong first half, strong Liverpool side. We were very, very good, scored the first goal.”

To be fair, the game did turn on Reece James’ controversial red card, and after Chelsea played the second half with ten men, it is slightly harder to make a comparison in terms of the strength of the two sides.

Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp will be happy with certain elements of the performance, particularly the first 10 to 15 minutes, but he would have been disappointed by how few clear-cut chances his team created after halftime.

It is still early in the season, and while it does feel like a missed opportunity for Liverpool to put down a marker against one of their main title rivals, there is still something to build on.
