Tottenham To Fight Liverpool In Race To Land £35m Rated West Ham Starlet

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool and Tottenham are both keen on signing West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, according to reports in the UK.

The 20-year-old has only recently signed a new deal at the London Stadium, and it could cost as much as £35m to prise the player away from the Hammers.

Rice has established himself in the first team at West Ham under manager Manuel Pellegrini this season.

Prior to this campaign, he had been mostly used as a centre-back, but he has struck up a good partnership with Mark Noble in the heart of the Irons’ midfield.

As well as the Reds and Spurs, Manchester United were also said to be keen on Rice, but the Red Devils have apparently moved on to other targets.

The midfielder has three caps for the Republic of Ireland but as he has not played a competitive game at senior level, he is eligible to switch allegiance to England; his country of birth.

Rice is said to be still weighing up whether to play for Gareth Southgate’s side rather than continuing his international career with Ireland.
