The Reds had been struggling in the middle of the park with Naby Keita and Georginio Wijnaldum unable to provide cover as the Saints continually caught Liverpool on the counter-attack
Henderson’s introduction after 59 minutes, along with James Milner, helped to steady the ship, allowing the Reds to gain a foothold and apply constant pressure to their opponents.
The midfielder played a vital role in both goals scored in the second half, heading the ball into the path of Mo Salah who ran the length of the field to score a brilliant goal.
Henderson then sealed the win himself, arriving late in the box to calmly slot home from a perfectly executed cross from Roberto Firmino.
