Liverpool face a tricky trip to newly-promoted Norwich this evening, hoping to get their campaign off to a flying start at Carrow Road.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to choose Alisson in goal, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kostas Tsimikas in the two fullback positions.

The centre of defence is likely to be harder to call, but reports suggest that Klopp will pick Virgil van Dijk and, if that is the case, he will want to give the defender a partner he knows well. For that reason, Joel Matip may be given the nod ahead of new signing Ibrahima Konate.

In midfield, Fabinho and Naby Keita are in line to start, with both Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara reportedly needing more time to regain match sharpness. Vice-captain James Milner could be selected ahead of the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Harvey Elliott for the final central midfield spot.

Up front, Diogo Jota is pushing for a starting place but Klopp may well go with the tried and teste front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah.
