Van Dijk feeling ‘settled’ at Anfield following club record move

Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk says he feels ‘settled’ at Anfield following his club record move from Southampton, and believes his performances are only improving under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.

The Dutchman joined Liverpool in January for a fee of £75 million, and has since made 11 appearances in all competitions and scored one goal – that being the winner on his debut in the Merseyside derby.

Van Dijk put in yet another commanding performance at the weekend during the Red’s 5-0 demolition job of Watford, and speaking after the victory, the former Saints star says is loving life at his new club.

“Do I feel settled in now? Yeah, definitely,” Van Dijk said speaking with Liverpoolfc.com, “Quicker than I might have thought? I don’t know.

“Obviously you come here with expectations and you want to play as soon as possible and as much as possible this season, and be as fit as possible as quick as possible.

“Now, I’m getting better and better and the understanding with all of the players is getting much better. I’m just playing my game and trying to help my team.”

Van Dijk made his Champions League bow for Liverpool in last month’s 5-0 win at FC Porto to help see his side through to the quarter-finals, where they will meet Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Given the way Klopp’s team has played against Guardiola’s club so far this season (Liverpool were the first side to beat City in the Premier League) it might well be worth a bet on Liverpool to beat City over two legs using bet365 where you can take advantage of some of the best odds around.

City were also interested in signing Van Dijk in January, however the Dutch international opted for a move to Anfield instead, and he says he is looking forward to the all-English affair next month.

“Everybody knows that anyone we get is going to be very hard,” the 26-year-old said.

“Man City is a very good team, very hard to play against and we need to be 100 per cent or even better to beat them over two games.

“We can prepare for that when the time comes.”
