Venue Switch Could Allow Liverpool’s Clash Versus Chelsea To Go Ahead

Liverpool’s Premier League fixture against Chelsea next weekend may still be played but not at Stamford Bridge, according to reports in England.

The Queen’s funeral is scheduled for the day after the match and, with police expected to be deployed away from football grounds in London ahead of the event, the game is unlikely to go ahead as things stand.

The Premier League are trying to avoid fixtures being postponed for a second consecutive weekend and, while matches inside the capital will be affected, other cities and towns could still hold games

It means switching the match to Anfield has been considered. There are logistical issues with changing the venue at such short notice so, ultimately, it may not be an option that is pursued.

If Liverpool don’t end up facing Chelsea, they could have a whole month without a league fixture, with their next game being against Brighton on October 1st.
