“Very Appreciated…” Romano Provides Transfer Update As Liverpool And PL Rivals Are Linked With 60M Midfielder

Liverpool have not held “concrete talks” about signing Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Portuguese international has been linked with a move to the Reds in recent days, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle having also been credited with an interest. However, Romano says that, while the 27-year-old is highly regarded, no team has made an approach for the player:

“Fulham have not had any contact with clubs yet. For sure Palhinha is very appreciated but I’m not aware of concrete talks with Liverpool or Manchester United yet.”

Reports a couple of days ago suggested that Liverpool were leading the race for Palhinha. While he may still cost £60m, he has been deemed as a cheaper alternative to the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

Since moving to Craven Cottage, Palhinha has really stood out due to his defensive capabilities, winning more tackles and interceptions than any other player in the Premier League this season.

It must be said, though, he isn’t exactly a young player. The midfielder turns 28 in July so you would think that the Reds will be looking at other options.
