Liverpool will hold “direct” talks with the representatives of Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister ” very soon”, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist revealed that the Reds are likely to be the frontrunners for the Argentinian international’s signature:
“Liverpool will have direct contacts with Mac Allister’s people very soon to present their project. Mac Allister is a player on Liverpool’s list. This is the situation: from what I understand, Mac Allister will 100% leave Brighton in the summer.”
Most supporters on Twitter are excited by the prospect of Mac Allister making the switch to Anfield but not everyone is convinced that he would be a good addition to the squad:
We are actually getting business done early omg

This isn’t a transfer I can get excited about. I don’t think he’s a player that fits Liverpool & I doubt how good he is, especially for the price I keep seeing (60mil).

This I can definitely get on board with. Top class

I don’t actually buy the hype that he’s a “world class” midfielder. He’s a decent midfielder in a WC winning team. I’d take him but no crazy fees.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also said to be interested in the midfielder but neither have made him a priority target, giving Liverpool a decent head start in negotiations.
Of course, even if Jurgen Klopp’s side do agree personal terms with Mac Allister quickly, there is the small matter of agreeing a transfer fee with Brighton.
The Seagulls are notoriously tough negotiators and reports have suggested that they may hold out for as much as £70m to sell the 24-year-old.
