‘We Have Money’ Fans Shocked As Trusted Reporter Confirms Both Liverpool And Chelsea Made Bids For 85M Rated Italian

Liverpool and Chelsea both made official bids for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer, according to Sport1‘s Florian Plettenberg.

The usually reliable journalist claimed that while he knew Chelsea offered €100m (£85m) for the Italian international, he wasn’t as sure about how much the Reds proposed:

“Liverpool and Chelsea made a bid for Federico Chiesa. Chelsea 100% bid €100million, I don’t know the amount that Liverpool bid. Juventus turned down the bids and Chiesa wants to stay at Juve.”

In any case, considering how highly rated Chiesa is, it is a big surprise that Liverpool were prepared to put a bid in for the player, and fans on Twitter were taken aback by Plettenberg’s claim:

Considering none of the local journalists around Liverpool have confirmed this news, you would usually take these types of stories with a large pinch of salt.

However, Plettenberg is not a reporter who is in the business of spreading wild rumours, so there is likely to be some substance to Liverpool’s pursuit of Chiesa. In any case, Juve say the winger is not for sale and the player is very likely to stay in Turin.
