“We Will See What Happens…” 24 Cap International Midfielder Drops Big Hint About Liverpool Switch

RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer has admitted that he is still interested in making a move to Liverpool.

The Reds reportedly made an approach for the Austrian, who has 24 caps for his country, before the transfer window closed earlier this month, only for their advances to be rebuffed by Leipzig. However, Laimer’s contract runs out at the end of the season and, when he was asked about a free transfer to Anfield, he replied:

“I’ve been in Leipzig for five years and I feel good. Now, it will be a year longer and then we will see what happens. I generally like watching the Premier League. I’ve always been a Liverpool fan.”

Whether Jurgen Klopp’s side still retain an interest in Laimer, it remains to be seen. His availability on a free does make him an attractive target but they may have reservations about the deal.

The 25-year-old’s injury record isn’t the greatest, and he is currently sidelined with an ankle injury that could keep him out of action until the New Year.

There will also be a lot of competition for Laimer’s signature. Both Chelsea and Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the player over the past few months, but Bayern Munich are likely to be Liverpool’s biggest threat. The Bundesliga champions tried hard to sign the midfielder during the summer and they are expected to be in pole position to snap him up when he leaves Leipzig next July.
