‘What Are They Smoking At The Bridge?’ ‘Maximum I’d Pay Is £40M’ Liverpool Fans Incredulous After Hearing Target’s Price Tag

Chelsea have told clubs that they want £85m for Liverpool target Mason Mount, according to reports in the English media.

Manchester United are said to be trying to steal on the march on the Reds and Arsenal by making an early bid of around £55m for the England international but it is £30m below the player’s asking price.

Liverpool fans on Twitter don’t believe Mount is worth anything close to the fee that Chelsea are currently demanding for the midfielder:

It is believed that Jurgen Klopp’s side won’t be drawn into a bidding war for Mount and, if Chelsea do keep to their current valuation, there is no chance that the 24-year-old will be moving to Merseyside this summer.

Up until very recently, reports have indicated that Mount’s preference would be to join the Reds if he couldn’t agree a new contract with his current club.

Considering the stance on his price tag, there is now a higher chance that he will see out his remaining year and leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer.
