West Ham are now in pole position to sign Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka, according to reports in Zambia.
Liverpool have been keeping tabs on the 22-year-old after he impressed against the Reds in a pre-season game last summer, while Manchester United and Arsenal have also been linked.
However, the Hammers and RB Leipzig are now said to be the frontrunners for Daka’s signature, with a £25m fee expected to be enough to snap up the forward. Fans on Twitter are wondering why the player would favour a move to the London Stadium:
What nonsense so they claim he will turn down LFC to sign for WHFC heard it all now ???

He is a hidden gem. A lethal striker, who is comfortable with both feet.
Daka has a phenomenal conversion rate of 27% for the past two seasons in the Austrian Bundesliga, which is close to Haaland’s 30% in his breakthrough 2019/20 season with RB Salzburg.— kazoorice (@wearewinnin) May 28, 2021
No they aren't

Nonsense! West Ham over Liverpool? I hear the game time argument, but if he is that good he will play?

If LFC really did come knocking then West Ham would not be favourites

It seems likely that West Ham will offer the Zambian international first-team football, while it must also be pointed out that Liverpool aren’t in a position to make an offer.
Following the arrival of Ibrahima Konate for £36m, the Reds will reportedly need to offload some players in order to free up the funds required for more signings.
