Ex-Arsenal defender William Gallas is expecting his former club to beat Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday evening.

The Frenchman says Jurgen Klopp’s side are “struggling” for form at the moment and he even goes as far as claiming it would be disappointing if the Gunners don’t secure the full three points:

“I will back Arsenal to win this game, that is for sure. I think 3-1 to Arsenal because it will be an open game. Arsenal, don’t let me down please! [They] must take advantage of the shape that Liverpool are in. I think it would be a big disappointment if Arsenal fail to beat Liverpool at the Emirates, especially after their victory against Tottenham. When you see the performances of Liverpool this season, at the weekend against Brighton, it is a great opportunity to beat them.”

There is no doubt that the Reds are going through a rough patch and, considering Arsenal’s excellent recent performances, you would have to say Mikel Arteta’s men are the favourites heading into the match.

However, there were some green shoots in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Rangers midweek. The change to a 4-4-2 did lead to a noticeable improvement, although it must be pointed out that they will be facing a much higher standard of opponent this weekend.

The Reds have tons of experienced players in their squad so Gallas and others shouldn’t be completely writing them off, but we shall see how the game unfolds.
