‘Won’t Happen’ ‘We Can Dream’ ‘Good Option But Nonsense’ Fans Dismiss Reports Linking Liverpool With £63M Midfield Maestro

Liverpool are targeting a move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to reports in the Spanish media.

The Dutchman is a regular starter for Barca, having played 35 times in all competitions this season but the Catalan club are said to be considering whether to offload him due to their financial problems.

It’s fair to say that supporters on Twitter are very sceptical about the claims linking the Reds with de Jong, with many discrediting the reliability of the reports:

To be honest with you, it would be a massive surprise if de Jong ended up moving to Anfield this summer. Not only is he a key player for Barcelona but he would also cost a lot of money.

When he moved to the Camp Nou in 2019, his transfer fee was €75m (£63m) and his price would be higher than that now, considering he has had a strong campaign. With Manchester United and Chelsea having also been heavily linked in the past, it’s unlikely that they would just stand by and let Liverpool take him either.
