“Would Be Unbelievable” Riise Hoping Liverpool Beat City And United To 64M Transfer

Ex-Liverpool left-back John Arne Riise would love his former club to snap up Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland next summer.

Reports suggest that the 21-year-old will be available for €75m (£64m) due to a release clause in his contract, and Riise believes the player would be a perfect fit for the Reds:

“Obviously I would love to have him at Liverpool, because he’s an unbelievable player. He’s in great form, and I think he would suit Klopp’s style of football. I also think he would love Liverpool as a club. I don’t know if Liverpool have the chance to sign him, but if they do then please do, because that would be unbelievable for the club – or for any club that signs him!”

Chelsea were heavily linked with Haaland back in July before they opted to sign Romelu Lukaku instead, but it is believed that Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are now leading the race for the Norwegian’s signature.

While Liverpool could do with signing a new forward, the cost of signing Haaland is likely to prove too much. The transfer fee itself wouldn’t be that much of an issue, but Haaland’s wages, as well as agent fees, may well price out the Merseyside club.

One cheaper alternative, who has been mentioned in the German press in recent days, is Red Bull Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi. The German international has already been the subject of an inquiry from the Reds.
