“Would Make Perfect Sense” McManaman Hoping Liverpool Get Involved In Race To Snap Up English Wonderkid

Ex-Liverpool winger Steve McManaman says he would back his former club to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

The Reds are thought to be very interested in snapping up the 18-year-old, and McManaman claims other English clubs will also be pursuing the player:

“Would I like him for Liverpool? Of course, I would. A move for a high-quality young player such as Jude, where you can keep them for a long-time would make perfect sense for any club wouldn’t it? Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United would all take him because as their current midfielders get older, Jude would be the perfect solution for them.”

Bellingham is a prodigious young talent and he is expected to be in high demand if and when Dortmund decide they want to let him go.

There has been some speculation in Germany that manager Jurgen Klopp might be reluctant to raid his former club to sign Bellingham, but that seems unlikely considering he may just end up at a rival English team anyway.

Probably the biggest obstacle to any deal going ahead is the price. Dortmund would hold out for a sizeable fee considering Bellingham’s potential, and the Bundesliga side also know that the England international has a number of suitors who are willing to pay top dollar for him.
