Wright Highlights The Key Player Who Made The Difference For Liverpool Against West Ham

Ian Wright has praised the impact of Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the 26-year-old was introduced as a substitute against West Ham last night.

The England international replaced Naby Keita after 55 minutes of the 3-2 win, almost immediately after Pablo Fornals had put the Hammers 2-1 up early in the second half. Wright believes the midfielder gave the Reds the impetus they needed to turn the result on its head:

“I think Oxlade-Chamberlain came on and made a difference – there was more thrust when he came on.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain made things happen when he got on the ball for Liverpool, making driving runs forward and delivering threatening passes through the West Ham defence.

He also played the pass to Trent Alexander-Arnold who crossed for Sadio Mane‘s second goal which was chalked off for offside.

There will be a debate to be had over whether Oxlade-Chamberlain should have started ahead of Keita in the first place, and he certainly made the case for himself to be in the starting line up when the Reds travel to Watford on Saturday.
