Ex-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he believes that it is possible for Jurgen Klopp to rebuild Liverpool so they can once again challenge for the title.

The Reds have had a disastrous season, finding themselves 19 points behind top spot, but Wenger says Klopp has the ability to find the necessary solutions:

“I believe there are many answers in there, it’s never one answer. The staff and Jurgen Klopp have to find the answer, you have to find the key to make that start again.”

Wenger knows a thing or two about squad rebuilds. He won three Premier League titles with Arsenal six years apart, with many changes to his starting eleven being made along the way.

The drop in standards that Liverpool have experienced this campaign, though, is quite unlike anything that Wenger went through during his 20 years with the Gunners.

There are a number of factors at play. Running Manchester City so close last year, only to fall agonisingly short, would have taken a mental toll. Having to play so many games as the Reds battled to win four trophies took its physical strain, while the injuries sustained to key players since August have also played a role.
