40M Rated Defender Set To Snub Interest From Liverpool And Chelsea Following New Development

Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Ben White is expected to sign a new contract at the Amex, ending speculation about his future, according to reports in the English media.

There were claims last month that both Liverpool and Chelsea were monitoring the 22-year-old’s situation, with the Reds having also been tipped to make a £40m offer for the defender.

Doubts over White’s future at the Seagulls increased when he reportedly turned three contract extensions, following a number of bids from Leeds United, but it seems he will now turn his back on interest from other clubs in order to stay on the South Coast.

It’s likely Brighton’s asking price for White would have proven too much for the Reds anyway, but they are still in need of strengthening their options at centre-half, having so far failed to replace Dejan Lovren who left to join Russian club Zenit St Petersburg back in July
