5 Things To Know About Eduardo Camavinga As Liverpool Enter The Race For The Rennes Starlet

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool are one of four clubs interested in signing Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to Sport. The Catalan newspaper claim Barcelona, Real Madrid and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on the player.

The Reds have reportedly enquired about the 17-year-old’s services, but the teenager is yet to decide where he will be playing his football next season.

Sport say Camavinga is “happy” about the interest being shown in him from Barca, but he is willing to listen to all offers from clubs who are looking to bid for him this summer.

So what do you we know about the Frenchman? Press the “next page” as we look at five facts about the player.

Camavinga’s game is built on his physicality

At 6ft tall, the teenager is already an imposing figure on the pitch, and with his turn of pace on the ball, he is able to turn defence into attack within a matter of seconds.

Camavinga’s physical attributes mean he should be able to adapt to the Premier League without any problems whatsoever.

He could cost a fair amount of money

Camavinga is a player in high demand and it is believed that Rennes will demand top dollar for one of their best players.

Sport claim that the midfielder could fetch at least €50m (£45m) but there have been other reports in recent months that estimate he could go for a lot more than that.

Camavinga can play for two different countries

The 17-year-old was born in Angola but moved to France at the age of two. He has dual nationality so he can play for either country at senior level.

Camavinga made his debut for France’s Under 21s back in November, playing the full 90 minutes in the 3-2 win over Georgia in a European U21 Championship qualifier.

He lacks a cutting edge in the final third

The Frenchman does generally play as a holding midfielder, but when he does venture forward, he doesn’t yet possess the passing range to create chances for his teammates.

He has scored just once this campaign, as well as contributing just two assists, in 36 appearances for Rennes.

Camavinga loves to tackle

The teenager has been compared to a young N’Golo Kante by some observers as he is a ferocious tackler, but it must be said there is more to his game than that.

Whether he’ll reach the levels of the Chelsea star, though, we shall have to wait and see.
