63M Brazilian Ace Will Not Force Move Despite Romano’s Claim That Liverpool Are “Interested”

Leeds winger Raphinha has not ruled out staying at Elland Road this summer, according to reports in the English media.

Representatives of the player are believed to have told Leeds that the Brazilian international is considering his options but he could still be talked into staying at the Yorkshire club.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed last month that Liverpool were still “interested” in Raphinha, with the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea also having been linked.

It is believed that the 25-year-old has two separate releases clauses. The first could be triggered if Leeds are relegated, allowing him to leave for only €25m (£21m). However, since the arrival of Jesse Marsch as manager, the Whites have moved nine points clear of the dropzone, so it now seems unlikely that the clause will come into effect.

The second one would allow any team to sign Raphinha for €75m (£63m), but that is a steep figure for a team like Liverpool, who may only pursue the Brazilian if they lose Mo Salah this summer.
