Ex-Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell believes that Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry would be an excellent addition to Liverpool’s squad if they recruit the German international this summer.
The 26-year-old has just a year remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena and there have been rumours that he could be part of a swap deal, with Sadio Mane moving in the other direction. Campbell believes that, while there would be a lot of competition for the former Gunners forward, he feels the Reds would be getting a great player if he were to end up at Anfield:
“Gnabry is going to be a sought-after player this summer. I know there is a lot of clubs who like him. He is a player who will be hotly pursued because he is still relatively young. We are talking about a Germany international who can play on either side, score goals, is quick and direct. He would be a great signing for Liverpool. There will be a lot of competition for Gnabry though. I think Arsenal would like to speak to him if there is an opportunity.”
Reports about a swap involving Mane have been pretty speculative but there are genuine reports in the German media that Liverpool and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Gnabry’s contract situation.
It is believed that the German is keen to earn the same amount as teammate Kingsley Coman, who is said to be on €15m a season (approximately £242,000 a week), so we shall see if Bayern give in to his demands.
