After Bellingham And Fernandez: Report Reveals Liverpool Are Now After A THIRD Midfielder Who Could Cost 34M

Liverpool will fight it out with Manchester City and Bayern Munich for Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian publication reports that the Reds are expected to join the “auction” for the Italian with the bidding likely to start at around €40m (£34m).

Scalvini can play as either a centre-back or holding midfielder, having been selected in both roles by Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini this season.

Considering the Reds have plenty of defenders, it stands to reason that the club’s recruitment department have identified the 19-year-old as another option to strengthen their midfield numbers.

Scalvini has made just 32 senior appearances but the fact that he has already been capped three times by Italy shows that he is a highly-rated young player.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez, but it appears they are casting their net wider in order to bring in reinforcements.
