Aldridge Backs Star To Turn Down Spanish Interest And Win Ballon d’Or At Liverpool

John Aldridge has backed Sadio Mane to turn down interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona in order to remain at Anfield.

The former Liverpool striker says he understands the temptation to move to Spain, but he feels the Senegalese international has just as good a chance of being crowned the world’s best player if he stays with the Reds:

“Mane doesn’t seem the type. Whenever I’ve spoken to him, he seems very humble, and doesn’t seem someone who would agitate for a move like other players such as Fernando Torres.”

“And don’t forget, even if the Reds forward moves to Barcelona, for example, he’d still have to overcome Messi. Mane can win the Ballon d’Or as he’s a great player. And he has as much chance winning it while at Liverpool than anywhere else.”

Considering the ongoing health crisis, which is impacting heavily on club finances, it seems the likes of Barca and Real would struggle to fund a move for Mane this summer anyway.

The 27-year-old is already in the right place to win more trophies, and while the draw of making the switch to La Liga may be strong, Liverpool are in a position to ward off potential interest.

Out of three, Mane would be the one that most Reds fans would want to keep the most, and hopefully the forward is keen on staying put as well.
